Wake Technical College Case Study

Industrial Dust Collection System

Industrial Air Solutions was approached by Wake Technical School in Raleigh, NC in 2013 to provide Large-Scale weld fume solutions for their new high school campus in Raleigh, NC.

Scope: Provide 15 individual weld booths with extraction arms to one central collector outside the facility and return the clean air back inside.

Industrial Air Solutions, Inc. was approached by Wake Tech to quote a turn- key system after a failed attempt at the main campus from another supplier.

Custom Designed Solution:

IAS recommended our DFC3-18 – 18 Cartridge Central Dust Collector attached to 15 custom designed weld booths each supplied with a 6”x7’ long self-supporting extraction arm. These externally supported arms provide low pressure drop and full range of movement throughout its 7’ reach in almost any direction. The total system was designed for 13,500 cfm to accommodate all 15 booths at one time although most of the time only a few booths would be running. IAS supplied a control panel with a VFD so the customer could dial in the amount of air needed depending on booth usage. IAS installation crew fabricated and installed the booths, ducting and dust collector to meet the needs of our customer. The clean air was then returned into the facility to save on heating and cooling costs.

Installation of Industrial Air Solution’s equipment met the specific equipment requirements for the project. In addition, the school reported increased cleanliness, improvements in efficiency, and decreased maintenance man hours throughout.
